About Me

About Me

My name is Laura Kane and I am a 2009 graduate of Framingham State College in MA. I hold a BS in Fashion Design and Retailing with a concentration in Fashion Design in addition to a minor in Art. I am currently earning my Ph.D at Oregon State University in Apparel Design and the Near Environment. My current research focuses on the design process of cosplayers and the role of social media during this process.

I am currently a graduate teaching assistant at Oregon State University and a sewing instructor at the Oregon State University Memorial Union Craft Center.

My creative scholarship has been showcased at the International Textiles and Apparel Association's 2013 and 2012 conference and Costume Society of America's 2013 annual conference.

I am the winner of the 2009 Natick Collections "Form to Fashion" event representing Framingham State College. I have been featured in the October 2008 issue of Skirt! Boston magazine as an up and coming young designer and I am also the recipient of the 2008/2009 Outstanding Senior Award for the Fashion Design concentration. In 2010 I was selected by the Fashion Group International of Boston as one of the top 5 emerging designers in the area and presented a collection at Boston Fashion Week as part of the Launch.

I enjoy designing evening gowns, wedding dresses, costumes for  recreational costuming and theatre, as well as Cosplay, Gothic and Lolita style fashion, and fantasy costumes.

I currently live in Corvallis, OR with my husband.
